</p><p>I was doing some research this week on how to <strong>get more traffic to your Salon Website</strong>. One of the biggest mistakes I&#8217;ve found that Salon Owners make is that they go and create their website and then just hope that people find it.</p>
<p>You can easily compare it to your Salon or Day Spa shop front. What do you do, day in and day out, to get people to come into your salon or spa?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s likely that you do some advertising, newspaper or yellow pages, maybe even flyers. You would get some &#8220;walk-in&#8221; traffic, you would get some repeat clients who have re-booked, you might even do some SMS messages, even direct mailouts to your client list.</p>
<p><strong>Now let&#8217;s take this ONLINE and list things we might do to get website &#8220;traffic&#8221; or visitors to your website.</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Advertising &#8211; we might do some <strong>PPC (pay-per-click)</strong> and run some ads on ad networks like Google Adwords.</li>
<li>&#8220;Walk-in&#8221; traffic &#8211; that would be people who found you in the search engines. This is FREE traffic (no cost) that results from <strong>good search engine rankings </strong>based on keywords eg. &#8220;beauty salon Armadale&#8221;</li>
<li> Direct mailouts &#8211; that&#8217;s <strong>email marketing</strong> direct to your email list (check out this great resource for <strong><a href="http://www.salonemailprofits.com/" target="_blank">profitable Salon Email Marketing</a></strong>)</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>So ONLINE Salon Marketing is pretty much the same as OFFLINE Salon Marketing.</strong></p>
<p>So why is that too many Salon &amp; Spa Owners spend very little time and effort marketing their Salon or Spa website?</p>
<p>I know the answer to that! It&#8217;s because many Salon Owners do not<em> understand how to market their Salon or Spa</em>. They just don&#8217;t know where to start!</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why I called this article<strong> &#8220;Increase Salon Website Traffic &#8211; Part 1&#8243;</strong>. Because there are many parts, different strategies, to getting more traffic to your website.</p>
<p>And let me tell you <strong>one of the greatest benefits of salon marketing online</strong>. It&#8217;s a whole lot cheaper and the results are a whole lot quicker when you do it ONLINE&#8230; the right way!</p>
<p>So right now, I&#8217;m going to talk a little about PPC (pay-per-click) strategies&#8230; in particular <strong>Google Adwords</strong>.</p>
<p>If I said to you, that you could <strong>DOUBLE the TRAFFIC to your salon website in 30 minutes or less</strong>&#8230; would YOU believe me!</p>
<p>Right at this moment&#8230; I bet you don&#8217;t!</p>
<p>Remember that I told you I had been doing some research on how to get more traffic to your Salon website. The fact is, <em>I discovered this great resource</em> that explained to me how to use Google Adwords.</p>
<p>Put simply, Google Adwords is a system that allows you to create a Salon Ad, have that ad appear in front of people who are specifically searching for your services, and you pay for the Ad when somebody clicks on it and comes to your website. The amount you pay for the &#8220;click thru&#8221; can vary from as little as a few cents to a dollar or two.</p>
<p><strong>A word of caution though&#8230;</strong> make sure your salon website is ready for these people to visit, in that when they come to your website page they discover a reason to contact you. If your website is not ready then your visitor will just click somewhere else and you would have paid money for nothing.</p>

<p>Why? Let me explain. All too often Salon and Spa owners spend all their efforts and money in marketing strategies to attract a NEW client. They rarely spend the time or money &#8220;mining&#8221; in their own backyard!</p>
<p>You see, <strong>more profits will be made from your EXISTING clients or prospects</strong> than what can be made from NEW clients. And marketing to your existing clients or prospects, that is&#8230; your list, is untold more cheaper and far more effective.</p>
<p><strong>And that&#8217;s true if your marketing online or &#8220;offline&#8221;!</strong></p>
<p>Now let&#8217;s focus here on your <em>online marketing</em>&#8230; because that&#8217;s what I love talking about!</p>
<p>For the most part, <strong>email marketing is FREE!</strong> You have a list of clients and prospects on your database and to email them costs you no money. OK, there may be a cost in your internet connections, your autoresponder service, but you&#8217;re likely paying for that anyway.</p>
<p>Compare that to a mailout&#8230; you have to pay for the printing, the envelope and the postage.</p>
<p><strong>Now imagine this&#8230;</strong> you come into your Salon or Spa on a Monday and check out the bookings for the week. Business looks a little light on&#8230;  the staff are wandering around trying to make themselves look busy&#8230; they&#8217;re going to get paid anyway&#8230; rather you have them busy making YOU money!</p>
<p>You sit yourself down, and create a special package offer, something like $290 worth of salon or spa services for a special price of $127. It&#8217;s for this week only, at that price you only offer 17 packages. You write that out and then fire up your email service that can broadcast that special offer out to your list of past clients and prospects. You hit the send button on your computer and then go and get yourself a cup of coffee.</p>

You&#8217;re front desk receptionist is starting to get a little busy so you put another staff member on the telephones to help her out. They were thinking about doing something special this week and then your email promoting your special offer prompted them to give you a call. <strong>Hey&#8230; they&#8217;re SAVING money coming in to pay you $127.</strong></p>
<p>Pretty soon the 17 packages have been sold and the clients are all booked in&#8230; in fact, you&#8217;ve actually sold 25 packages&#8230; That&#8217;s not bad, let&#8217;s not tell anyone we actually sold a few more than what we said we would. Your staff are now busy for the week and you&#8217;ve just generated (25 @ $127) $3,175 from one email.</p>
<p>Not bad for a few minutes work!</p>
<p>What I&#8217;ve just described to you is not fantasy. </p><p>I see this problem all too often… Just today, I get an email from a client who has taken up my offer of re-building her website into a <a href="http://www.salonsuccesswebsite.com/specialreport">Salon Success Website</a>… a website that makes money!</p>
<p>And it made me stop what I was doing and write this!</p>
<p>She was really having a problem with the way her website looked after the makeover… in fact she tells me she would rather &#8220;<em>have it looking more appropriate for a Salon!</em>&#8221;</p>
<p>Now&#8230; don&#8217;t be offended by what I&#8217;m about to say. I value this client dearly but there is a very important lesson here and it&#8217;s worth sharing.</p>
<p>I reckon that’s her EGO talking… and maybe even her friends, family and staff… telling her that her website is not very pretty… and besides, in their minds, hers&#8217; is a very upmarket Salon and the website should show that!</p>
<p>That pretty well tells me that her <strong>EGO is getting in the way of making her RICH!</strong></p>
<p>But that’s OK… many Salon Owners think the same thing when they start out being introduced to this type of marketing on their website…. It’s called <strong>Direct Response Marketing</strong>.</p>
<p>And many take a while to work out what really is the <a href="http://www.salonsuccesswebsite.com/research-and-planning/the-1-goal-of-your-salon-website">main goal of their Salon Website</a></p>
<p>But consider what has happened in the very short time of her salon website makeover.  <strong>To me, this is the ULTIMATE SUCCESS!&#8230; and worth far more money in the bank than her EGO!</strong></p>
<p>I went and counted that in the last 7 days, she has had over 30 people respond to an offer and in doing so they have provided her with their name, address and telephone contact details. And not only that, but she has not paid one cent for this website traffic… they all found her website through an internet  search  engine!</p>
<p>Let’s say that 5 of those people visit her Salon as a result of downloading this offer from her website. And on average, they each spend $1,000 over the next 12 months using the services of her Salon. That’s $5,000 worth of business that cost nothing in advertising to gain.</p>
<p>That’s not bad… what about if her salon marketing was that good that 10 of the 30 spent $1,000 over the next 12 months? That would be even better.</p>
<p>And what would happen if that happened each and every week! Let’s just say that it happened for 40 weeks of the year. That would be a massive…</p>
<p><strong>$200,000 (5 clients @ $1,000 per year for 40 weeks) in additional business to her Salon!</strong></p>
<p>That’s what I call a <a href="http://www.salonsuccesswebsite.com">Money Making Salon Website</a>… if you&#8217;re a Salon Owner go and check if your website is doing that for YOU!</p>
<p>How does the fact that she didn’t quite like the look of her website, sound NOW! And what about the influence of her friends family and staff… not to mention her EGO!</p>
<p>Fact is&#8230; your opinion and their opinion does not put money in your cash register. <strong>The only opinion that COUNTS is that of <em>your customer</em> and their response will tell you if what you&#8217;re doing is working.</strong></p>
<p>If you truly want your salon website to make you money then you need to understand what part of it makes you MONEY! And it’s got very little to do with how it looks! </p><p>As marketers (all Salon Owners should be) and in making use of the internet to sell our products and services, we should have at least a little understanding of the importance of search engines.</p>
<p>What good’s a website if you don’t have any web traffic? And that’s where search engines come into it.</p>
<p>It’s amazing how many clients I talk to that don’t have a clue about it. They may have a website but when you ask them where they rank in the search engines, many don’t have a clue.</p>
<p>Fact is… it’s NOT there fault! There’s a saying… “they operate up to their level of competence… or incompetence.” The get this website built, some by fancy web designers others by a friend or relative and they don’t consider search engines at all. They probably figure just having a website is enough.</p>
<p>And that was me! In a past business I had, I created a website, had it re-built 3 or 4 times… and eventually it ended up in a search engine. It was page 10 or 12 for my search term… but it was in a search engine.</p>
<p>Then I read something about linking from other websites… so I joined up with a link website and went and got a 100 or so free inbound reciprocal links. The effect was outstanding… within a month or so my site had got onto the first page… in fact it was ranked between 1 to 4, depending on the search engine.</p>
<p>And the result… tons more traffic to my site! And more $$$ in my cash register.</p>
<p>And this result was gained from inbound links and some on page optimization for search engines. It wasn’t difficult, wasn’t rocket science… but it is a science… one that anybody who has a website could achieve themselves.</p>
<p>OK… so you get a lot of traffic to a website… what next?</p>
<p>Well… the strategy of any website based on Direct Response Website design… is to get the visitor to take the action you want them to take. In the case of my business, I wanted them to fill in a quote form. And that’s exactly what many of them did.</p>
<p>Sometimes 20 a day… sometimes more.</p>
<p>And that simple looking website ended up bringing in over 20% of my sales revenue (which was hundreds of thousands of dollars). And it was from a market that I would not have ordinarily had access to. Many of them were international visitors to Perth, Western Australia who were looking for a car to rent… using the internet.</p>
<p>It didn’t matter how big my business was… it didn’t matter that I was just a Perth local and not a national company. So I could compete against the big guys with just an effective traffic generating website that had high rankings in the search engines.</p>
<p>Now if you haven’t gathered already, here’s my point.</p>
<p>Great rankings in the search engines is like gold to your business. It can generate huge sales. And as a website owner, or planning to be one… you need to understand a little about this.<br />

</p><p>What’s the #1 Goal of your Salon Website&#8230; the purpose of your website?</p>
<p><strong>I reckon many salon owners would not have a clue about this one!</strong> Take a look around at the salon websites online… check out your competitors. Is it to have the prettiest pictures, fancy Flash graphics showing the latest styles &amp; fashions, how great and clean your Salon looks like&#8230; or just to to tell everyone how great your service and staff are!</p>
<p>That’s RUBBISH!</p>
<p>If you’re a salon business, the purpose of your salon website is to SELL something. Forget about anything else. Your website should have ONE main focus. That is, when a visitor comes to your website you should have ONE intended course of action that you want them to follow!</p>
<p>So, when someone comes to your website, it should be clearly obvious what ONE action you want them to take.</p>
<p>Put simply, <em>get them to make a choice and get them to do it NOW!</em> That&#8217;s the style of marketing I promote&#8230; it&#8217;s the type of marketing that will make you RICH! And it&#8217;s called <strong>Direct Response Marketing! </strong></p>
<p>OK, so we want the visitor to your salon website to be presented with ONE choice. To do this, you have two options:</p>
<p>Option 1: Buy YOUR  product or service<br />
Option 2: Leave their name and email address for future follow up</p>
<p>If your strategy is option 1, then the best way to achieve that is to use a strong selling <strong>sales letter</strong> as the main text on your website. You don’t want a lot of links, you don’t want them to have to press “continue” to view the rest of your sales piece. The MAIN focus of your website is the sales letter.</p>
<p>Now don’t go thinking your business is different… The answer is clear. For your website to be an effective selling machine your product or service is not different.</p>
<p>Why?</p>
<p>Because you’re still selling to humans and the psychology of buying is all based on emotion. <em>If you target that emotion in your sales copy then you will have a strong chance of success in making the sale.</em></p>
<p>What about option 2?</p>
<p>If you’re selling a $2,000 product, or even a selection of different services (the typical Salon) to a cold audience of web visitors then that’s going to be hard to achieve. They’re not going to make up their mind straight away after looking at your website the first time.</p>
<p>So what should you do?</p>
<p>You offer them an ethical BRIBE… you give them reason to provide you with their name and email address and possibly other contact information. This BRIBE could be in the form of a free gift, a free report that provides valuable information, or even a free online course delivered by email.</p>
<p>You can then follow them up through effective <strong>email marketing</strong>. You may not sell them today, but you may have a strong chance of selling to them in the future. Having a <em>qualified</em> (interested in your product or service) <em>targeted opt-in email list</em> is as good as money in the bank!</p>
<p>So when you are building your website you have to choose what your primary goal is. If you’re selling a product under $50 with a proven high conversion rate then option 1 may be for you. But for the typical Salon business, option 2 may prove more effective.</p>
<p>That’s the basis of a <strong>Direct Response Salon Website</strong>… a website that has a clear identifiable course of action for your visitor… and one that is designed to SELL.<strong>Related Posts:</strong>
