<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">How to make MORE money!</span></p>
<p>If talking about making money offends you, or you&#8217;d rather be talking about how to deliver a more comforting, wonderful, sensual experience for your clients, then STOP reading now as you&#8217;d be wasting your time.</p>
<p>Business is getting tougher, that&#8217;s why I want to talk about YOU <em>making MORE money!</em></p>
<p>I&#8217;m on a number of Salon forums&#8230; those places Salon Owners go to discuss everything from how to handle staff, to what machine they should be using to rip, suck, fill all parts of the body in the pursuit of beauty.</p>
<p>All good stuff!</p>
<p>But lately, I&#8217;ve started to see more and more of these comments&#8230; <em>&#8220;I&#8217;ve had enough, I&#8217;m not having as much fun as I used to have, business is harder, I&#8217;m losing money, I&#8217;m closing my Salon.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>And in fact, they do close their business. I see it all over the city where I live.</p>
<p><strong>This concerns me&#8230; Why?</strong></p>
<p>Well, let&#8217;s put that into perspective&#8230; I&#8217;m not doubting that these salon owners are having a hard time. But think about this&#8230; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">would salon owners be saying this if they were making lots of money?</span></p>
<p>I doubt it very much. Have you ever heard someone say <em>&#8220;I&#8217;m making too much money, I&#8217;m closing my salon?&#8221;</em></p>
<p>One of my marketing mentors said to me once. <em>&#8220;You don&#8217;t have any problem that having more cash wouldn&#8217;t solve!&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Never forgotten that&#8230; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">and if business is getting tougher that&#8217;s what you should be thinking about.</span></p>
<p><strong>When was the last time YOU were thinking about how to find MORE money in your business?</strong></p>
<p><em>Where would you start?</em></p>
<p>Let me save you some time.</p>
<p><strong>I&#8217;d start right here:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Where can you get MORE clients?</li>
<li>How can I get my existing clients to buy from me MORE often?</li>
</ol>
<p>Because, if you&#8217;re successful with these 2 things, you&#8217;re going to be making enough money.</p>
<p>I talk to salon owners every day. The one&#8217;s that focus on those 2 things MAKE more money! Those that focus on those things EVERY day, make a lot of MONEY!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s something else that&#8217;s very common with salon owners.</p>
<p>Very few of you, are willing to spend much money in trying to achieve the 2 things above.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">And rightly so!</span></p>
<p>Small business can&#8217;t afford it. I tell those salon owners I work with to STOP spending money. And that&#8217;s because many of you spend money carelessly on stuff that just doesn&#8217;t work. Such things as:</p>
<ul>
<li>newspaper ads</li>
<li>yellow pages</li>
<li>magazine ads</li>
<li>flyers</li>
<li>glossy brochures</li>
<li>google ads</li>
<li>the latest Facebook fad</li>
</ul>
<p>Just to clarify&#8230; you can make money spending money on those things&#8230; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">but many of you don&#8217;t know how to do them well.</span></p>
<p><strong>Most of the time you waste your money!</strong></p>
<p>So if you don&#8217;t know how to them well&#8230; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">STOP spending your money!</span></p>
<p>You&#8217;d be far better off investing your time and money on studying how to do those things well.</p>
<p><strong>Back to the 2 points above.</strong></p>
<p>We all want MORE clients and we want our clients to KEEP spending money with us! The question is <em>&#8220;what have you been doing to ATTRACT more clients and then get them to spend MORE money with you, MORE often.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Not that long ago, when I was checking out the comments on one of those salon forums, I was getting a little frustrated with the continual comments and focus on problems the salon owners were having.</p>
<p>No one was discussing a solution&#8230; they just wanted to discuss the problems. It&#8217;s OK to vent, but this is business &#8211; eventually someone has to solve it!</p>
<p>My frustration turned to annoyance&#8230; so I offered this little challenge, actually it was a great opportunity.</p>
<p>On this day I felt I wanted to give something, to be helpful&#8230; actually show them what they could achieve if they focused on a solution, not the problem. I wanted to show them what they were missing.</p>
<p><strong>I offered the first 2 salon owners who contacted me, a way they could make at least $2,000 in the next 7 days. And I would do all the work!<br />
</strong></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what happened!</p>
<ul>
<li>Beverley, Salon 1: made $4,110 in just over 7 days</li>
<li>Denise, Salon 2: made $2,055 in 7 days</li>
</ul>
<p><em>So how did I do this?</em></p>
<p>It was pretty simple. We made an offer to their existing clients, sent them an email and their clients responded by purchasing the offer.</p>

<h3>How Salon Owners Should Be Using The Internet</h3>
<p>If you want/need to make more money quickly, then the internet is the fastest and cheapest way to do it.</p>
<p><strong>It&#8217;s low-cost/high probability of success.</strong></p>
<p>There is no other media like it&#8230; when used correctly!</p>
<p>However, I see many salon owners struggle with this in their business. And many have wasted a significant amount of money trying to get it to work.</p>
<p>But when you get it right, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">it can have a MAJOR impact on your salon business.</span></p>
<p>Just like this&#8230; a recent client who never had a website has ATTRACTED 12 new clients in the past 9 days. The image below is a snapshot from my in-box showing the new client requests for Central Park Hair Design from their website.</p>

</p><p>Just the other day I was talking to a salon owner who was complaining about her staff being &#8220;idle&#8221;.</p>
<p>In this particular case, it was due to the salon not being <em>busy</em>. There&#8217;s only so much staff can do when there is no clients.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s cleaning, organizing, re-stocking&#8230; all the stuff you probably need to do BUT doesn&#8217;t help the owner make any money.</p>
<p>I asked her what she&#8217;s doing to get more clients. She explained that at this time of the year it was quite common&#8230; kids going back to school, bills to pay&#8230;</p>
<p>And because of all these reasons, business was pretty slow.</p>
<p>I was thinking&#8230; fair enough, maybe she&#8217;s right.</p>
<p><span id="more-1022"></span></p>
<p>Then I spoke to another salon owner who I had recently done some marketing for. We&#8217;d prepared a few things, made a few tweaks&#8230; all with the purpose of attracting clients to come into the Salon.</p>
<p>She was busy&#8230; as were her staff! Made the comment that business was up from same time last year. She couldn&#8217;t be happier.</p>
<p><strong>2 different salon owners, 2 different results.</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve got a theory about this.</p>
<p>And in all the different categories of businesses that I&#8217;ve worked for clients, I find it&#8217;s more relevant in the salon industry.</p>
<p>Why is it more relevant to the salon industry?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s because the majority of salon owners are more &#8220;process and task&#8221; focused as opposed to being RESULTS focused.</p>
<p>For example&#8230; many salon owners only get their clients in 2 ways</p>
<ol>
<li>they re-book existing clients</li>
<li>new clients walk in the door</li>
</ol>
<p>That&#8217;s it! They continually just &#8220;process&#8221; the same old/same old ways of doing business. That&#8217;s how they&#8217;ve always done their business, no need to change.</p>
<p><strong>That&#8217;s LAZY thinking, it&#8217;s a LAZY practice.. .and it&#8217;s losing you money!</strong></p>
<p>And many of these salon owners spend all their time doing the work on clients themselves. They never spend any time on working out how to do business better!</p>
<p>And these salon owners are now finding that their staff are becoming idle&#8230; with very little to do&#8230; a lot more often.</p>
<p><strong>Exceptional results for your business come from being RESULTS focused.</strong></p>
<p>Let me explain how.</p>
<p>You&#8217;re doing business one way&#8230; just like the example above. But you start to think about how to get a BETTER result!</p>
<p>If your business is generating this much revenue, how can I get it generate MORE?</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t need a new way of doing business. You may just have to tweak a few things.</p>
<p><strong>To me, the best &#8220;bang for your buck&#8221; (low cost / high probability of success) is going to come from  the internet or online media.</strong></p>
<p><em>And I&#8217;m seeing some very LAZY salon websites.</em></p>
<p>They&#8217;re old, tired, many are dusty! Created ages ago and never been changed, never tested to get a better result.</p>
<p>Lazy websites are costing you money&#8230; in lost business, most likely going to your competitor!</p>
<p>With salon owner #2 above, the one who&#8217;s busy and getting BETTER results&#8230; we made a few tweaks to her website and the new-client leads are pouring in.</p>
<p>We also sent out a few email promotions&#8230; phone sales started to happen.</p>
<p>And these phone sales were instant cash! Clients paid over the phone to BUY the promotion.That&#8217;s not normally how salon owners &#8220;DO&#8221; their business!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s getting BETTER results brought about by implementing modern-day online strategies.</p>
<p>She&#8217;s making more money and she&#8217;s busier than ever.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s being RESULTS driven&#8230; not doing stuff same old &#8211; same old and hoping that business will get better.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s taking ACTION and moving on from being &#8220;process and task&#8221; focused!</p>

</p><p>Recently I read an article by Dan Kennedy where he spoke about the power of  &#8220;publishing&#8221;.</p>
<p>And if you don&#8217;t know who Dan Kennedy is, he has taught thousands of business owners how to become a master of their business using simple advertising, marketing and sales systems. You can check him out <a href="http://www.dankennedy.com" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p>Now Dan goes onto say that if you don&#8217;t &#8220;publish&#8221; regularly, it&#8217;s highly likely that you&#8217;re business is going to go belly up!</p>
<p>I tend to agree!</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;Publish or Perish&#8221; is today&#8217;s reality for everyone in business!</strong></p>
<p>So what exactly does he mean?</p>
<p>Well&#8230; he states:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;EVERY business is in the information business, whether you&#8217;re aware of it yet or not. And you NEED to use all the tools available on a variety of platforms to get the message out about your expertise and what makes YOU the top choice above any and all of your competition.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Never a wiser word be spoken!</p>
<p>As a Salon Owner, you might think that this statement doesn&#8217;t apply to you. After all, you provide hair salon,beauty salon, even day spa services.</p>
<p>And you&#8217;re thinking that&#8217;s got to nothing to do with an &#8220;information business&#8221;.</p>
<p>The truth is&#8230; you are so in the &#8220;information business&#8221;.</p>
<p>And the wise&#8230; and richer&#8230; salon owners totally understand that!</p>
<p>And they apply that principle every day!</p>
<p>They &#8220;publish&#8221; their expertise through;</p>
<ul>
<li>newsletters</li>
<li>in-salon education of their products</li>
<li>promoting services</li>
<li>promoting new services</li>
<li>publishing information on their website</li>
<li>announcing special offers</li>
<li>advising their clients on which products to use</li>
</ul>
<p>and the information they &#8220;publish&#8221; explains the reasons why their clients will benefit from the experience of using their services or products.</p>
<p>I see Salon owners &#8220;publishing&#8221; every day. Either on their website, their Facebook page, their newsletters.</p>
<p>They use every available media to &#8220;publish&#8221; their expertise to their target markets.</p>
<p><strong>Compare what they do&#8230; to what YOU do!</strong></p>
<p>Do you &#8220;publish&#8221; regularly? Do you understand how to use &#8220;publishing&#8221; to attract clients into your Salon?</p>
<p>Or do you just &#8220;hope and pray&#8221; that your clients will telephone you today to book in for one of the services that you provide.</p>
<p>I see that everyday as well!</p>
<p><strong>&#8220;Publishing&#8221; is a success strategy.</strong></p>
<p>&#8220;Hoping and praying&#8221; is just plain dumb!</p>
<p>Now &#8220;publishing&#8221; is pretty easy. The most simple way to do that is to make a post on your Facebook page.</p>
<p>Not some mindless trash Facebook post that I see many Salons are now doing&#8230; like <em>&#8220;enjoy the weekend! What are you going to be doing?&#8221;</em>. If you just want to be boring hoping to get a little engagement with your Fans then go for it.</p>
<p>Try something a little more stimulating that positions you as the expert, like <em>&#8220;want to look a little bit extra sexy this weekend&#8221;</em>. And then you showcase a service/product you do such as hair styling, eyelash extensions, nail extensions, spray tanning and so on.</p>
<p>&#8220;Publishing&#8221; the right way attracts clients into your business. It&#8217;s not difficult to do. Doing it the wrong way just bores your audience and wastes your time!</p>
<p>You all have the publishing tools available to you. And many of them cost you nothing to make use of.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why I love the internet. It&#8217;s a simple, very low cost (if any) to engage your clients thru &#8220;publishing&#8221;. And your audience is all over the internet, spending more and more time looking for the services you provide.</p>
<p><strong>So go and give them what they want!</strong></p>
<p>When you understand that you are really in the information business then you have the potential to considerably ramp-up your business.</p>

</p><p>I&#8217;ve always said that it&#8217;s no good having a website for your salon or spa business without it being easily found in the search engines.</p>
<p><strong>And the most important search engine is Google!</strong> There are many others, but the fact is most people searching on the internet use Google as their search engine.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">So if you want your prospective clients to find you, then your business better show up in Google.</span></p>
<p>If you want your business to be the 1st choice for these prospective clients, then you want to aim to be the first business listed in Google.</p>
<p>Now&#8230; there are plenty of website companies out there telling you that they can get you listed #1 in Google, and to a salon or spa business owner, that might be appealing enough for you to spend money with one of them for that to happen.</p>
<p>But I&#8217;m telling you right now&#8230;<strong> it&#8217;s not always going to be achieved!</strong></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s say your business is located in Sydney, Australia.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll just about guarantee that your business is not going to be ranked #1 in the city of Sydney!</p>
<p>And anyone promising you that, telling you it&#8217;ll only cost you a few hundred dollars, is likely to be full of sh%t!</p>
<p>Yes&#8230; it&#8217;s possible.</p>
<p>But unless you&#8217;re prepared to spend upwards of $10,000 over the next 12 months trying to achieve that, it&#8217;s highly likely it&#8217;s not going to happen!</p>
<p>The reason it&#8217;s likely not to happen is because of the competitiveness of the &#8220;Sydney&#8221; keyword.</p>
<p>Doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re a hair salon, beauty salon or day spa.</p>
<p>To be ranked #1 in Google for that keyword is going to be a very expensive task. And even spending a lot of money doing it, may not ever produce the result you wanted.</p>
<p>And I doubt if many of you are prepared to &#8220;gamble&#8221; that amount of money!</p>
<p>But right now, I want to digress for just a minute&#8230; I want to explain something very important.</p>
<p><strong>There are 3 types of search results</strong></p>
<p><strong>1.    Paid advertising results</strong> &#8211; using Google Adwords Pay-Per-Click (PPC) program.</p>
<p>The PPC results vary from day to day, dependent on how much a business owner is prepared to pay, on that particular day, to have their business advert displayed at the top of the search results.</p>
<p>If for any reason they stop paying, their Ad will diasppear.</p>
<p>This is the Google Adwords program and it makes Google a lot of money!</p>
<p><strong>2.    Google Places listings</strong></p>
<p>These are the Google Business Listings, referred to as Google Places. The top 7 Google Places listings are displayed here, based on the geographic location (physical address) of your business.</p>
<p>These listings are free, unlike the Google Adwords listings.</p>
<p>How do you get ranked in the Top 7? That&#8217;s a complete different strategy to the Google Adwords campaign and not something I&#8217;m going to get into right now. <p><strong>3.    Natural Organic search results.</strong></p>
<p>Then there are the &#8220;natural organic&#8221; search results. These listings stay pretty much the same each day and cost absolutely nothing.</p>
<p>These listings are based on the quality and design of your website.  If Google decides that your website is very &#8220;relevant&#8221; to the search term, then it will &#8220;rank&#8221; your website above your competition.</p>
<p>One thing to note here. If you employ an effective Google Places strategy, then the &#8220;Natural Organic&#8221; listing can &#8220;join&#8221; your Google Places listing as ONE combined listing.</p>
<p>So&#8230; back to the title of this article <strong>&#8220;How Google &#8220;Finds&#8221; Your Salon or Spa&#8221;</strong>.</p>
<p>Well, if you haven&#8217;t quite discovered it yet, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">it&#8217;s based on your geographic location.</span></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s say your business is a &#8220;Hair Salon&#8221;.</p>
<p>If a prospective client searching for your services types that into Google, it will provide results within a short distance of where you presently are.</p>
<p>Google&#8217;s got very clever doing that.</p>
<p>You may have heard the term &#8220;geo-targeting&#8221;. The term is used a lot when talking about smart phones like the iPhone.</p>
<p>Google knows where you are located, so the search engine provides results within your vicinity based on the keyword you typed in.</p>
<p>To get around the &#8220;geo-targeting&#8221; of search results, the person searching would have to type in &#8220;hair salon sydney&#8221; or something more precise &#8220;hair salon surry hills&#8221; (which is a Sydney suburb).</p>
<p><strong>Now&#8230; let&#8217;s go back to those website companies that promise you a #1 listing in Google.</strong></p>
<p>These companies are more than likely referring to your geographic location. So if you&#8217;re based in Surry Hills NSW, then that&#8217;s what they will try and get you a #1 ranking for.</p>
<p>Put simply&#8230; they&#8217;re more than likely just going to ensure you have a Google Places listing.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s not a bad thing&#8230; you should have a Google Places listing.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">But don&#8217;t expect miracles for a few hundred dollars!</span></p>
<p><strong>There are a few &#8220;essential elements&#8221; you require if you want your business website to produce great results.</strong></p>
<p>And by that I&#8217;m referring to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">more clients into your business</span>. Your salon or spa website is a tool to bring more money into your business. To achieve that requires many more parts than just a #1 listing in Google for your geographic area.</p>
<p><strong>So BEWARE!</strong> Beware of those so called &#8220;website experts&#8221; promising the world for a few hundred dollars. Spending that amount can be worthwhile, but it will only be a small part of a complex system and it may not give you all the results you&#8217;re wanting or expecting.</p>

</p><p>So you want to be the number one Salon or Spa in your area, yeah?</p>
<p>Want to be the best?</p>
<p>Want to be the most profitable?</p>
<p>Want to crush your competition? That one may sound a bit harsh, but truth be told, business can be tough and of course you want to do better than any of your competition.</p>
<p><strong>And you also want to stop the struggle.</strong> You want to pay off any debt, pay your bills, pay your staff&#8230; and pay YOURSELF.</p>
<p>And when you pay yourself, you want to know that YOU, as the business owner, gets more money than anyone else.</p>
<p>We all go into business with that goal. But the reality is usually very different.</p>
<p>Today I want to tell you about Deborah, a Salon owner in NSW.</p>
<p><strong>She decided to do something a little different.</strong></p>
<p>It was about 2 years ago that Deborah first contacted me. She was a struggling Salon owner and at that time she couldn&#8217;t really afford to do anything about her situation.</p>
<p>Then about 3 months ago she contacted me again. She&#8217;d been able to scrimp a little money together and so we put it to good use.</p>
<p>She&#8217;d had a Salon website for about 5 years. When I asked her a few questions about it, it became very clear that it was a TYPICAL Salon website that just didn&#8217;t WORK.</p>
<p><strong>She was unaware it wasn&#8217;t working until I explained what it SHOULD be doing for her business.</strong></p>
<p>She thought it was just like any other Salon website that she had seen and so that should be good enough.</p>
<p>Little did she know!</p>
<p>So I re-built it. Her website was now one that <strong>attracted visitors to TAKE ACTION.</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s what I refer to as a <strong>LEAD GENERATION website</strong>. That&#8217;s a website that encourages new clients to contact her Salon immediately they visit the website.</p>
<p>One other benefit of her website after I&#8217;d finished with it was that it appeared #1 in the search engines for a variety of keywords related to her services.</p>
<p>So it was now being <span style="text-decoration: underline;">FOUND</span> by people who were looking for a Salon in her area.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s how it works&#8230; you must first be <span style="text-decoration: underline;">FOUND</span>, then you must <span style="text-decoration: underline;">ENCOURAGE</span> the visitors to contact you.</p>
<p><strong>So&#8230; what&#8217;s the results.</strong></p>
<p>Take a look at this image:</p>

<p>This past week, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">19 new clients have contacted her Salon</span>. Each one of them has provided their name, email, home address and telephone number. <strong>This is an automated process.</strong> It requires no input or work by Deborah. It&#8217;s like an employee you never have to pay or worry that they turn up for work.</p>
<p><strong>This is a TRUE lead&#8230; not just a website visitor.</strong></p>
<p>They will either telephone the Salon, or Deborah will contact them.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what will happen with those 19 new leads.</p>
<ul>
<li>At least 60% will visit the Salon &#8211; that&#8217;s 11 new clients.</li>
<li>Of those 11 new clients, 70% will return more than once &#8211; that&#8217;s 8 repeat clients.</li>
<li>On average those 8 clients will return 5 times in a year spending around $80 each time.</li>
<li>That&#8217;s $3,200 over a 12 month period. It&#8217;s actually more than that due to the other incentives Deborah is offering them to keep coming back.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Remember &#8211; that&#8217;s the results over 12 months from just 1 week of website leads!</strong></p>
<p>Multiply that effect by 52 weeks. Even if you multiplied by just 40 weeks you&#8217;re looking at an increase in annual sales of around $128,000.</p>
<p><strong>All from a Salon Website &#8211; that WORKS!</strong></p>
<p>How much did she pay for this website. In Deborah&#8217;s case it was around $2000.</p>
<p><strong>That&#8217;s a great return on investment!</strong> In fact, you could spend that much on a newspaper or magazine Ad and be lucky to get 1 to 3% of that.</p>
<p>Yet I see Salons &amp; Spas <em>struggling</em> with their lousy websites each day&#8230; having absolutely no idea of what potential they are missing out on.</p>
<p>To me, and many of the Salon / Spa owners I work with, <strong>the internet offers the best return on investment that any other media.</strong></p>
<p>That is, when you get it right.</p>

</p><p><strong>How One Salon Owner Made Money On Her Day Off&#8230;</strong> This is a great story. Yvonne has a hair salon here in Perth. It&#8217;s a funky little salon that she operates herself.</p>
<p>She&#8217;s had staff before, but like most salon owners, has been finding business a little tough over the past year or so. Staff have come and go and she&#8217;s found on more than one occasion that staff aren&#8217;t that great at bringing in as many clients as the salon needs to keep everybody busy.</p>
<p>How many of you have that problem?</p>
<p>Your staff are content to just go with the flow, do what they have to, nothing more.</p>
<p>So Yvonne&#8217;s trying to run it by herself right now&#8230; and it doesn&#8217;t leave much time to do everything that&#8217;s needed.</p>
<p>Like putting together promotions!</p>
<p>Yvonne&#8217;s even tried the dreaded &#8220;coupon deals&#8221;. Now that nearly wiped her out. She listened to the coupon salesperson and promoted a &#8220;real cheap&#8221; offer that sold 100&#8242;s of coupons.</p>
<p><strong>She won&#8217;t be doing that again in a real hurry!</strong></p>
<p>Now, I was able to get 30 minutes of Yvonne&#8217;s time and I showed her how easy it could be to put together an offer and then send it out to her client list.</p>
<p>She explained how tough business was. To her, $500 in sales was a good day. A good week is one where she can pay her bills&#8230; and maybe have a little left over for herself.</p>
<p>Fortunately, despite how busy she is, she&#8217;s been able to keep her Salon Potential database up to date. And it had about 400 email addresses of her clients.</p>
<p>I caught up with Yvonne on a Friday. By the end of that day I was able to setup a promotion ready to be sent out.</p>
<p><strong>We were going to be selling a package for $127.</strong></p>
<p>We decided we&#8217;d send it out on Monday. That&#8217;s Yvonne&#8217;s day off. She could divert the phones and take any calls that came in.</p>
<p>I sent the email out about 8.00am. By the end of the day she had sold 5. That&#8217;s $635 in sales on her day off.</p>
<p>And we set it up that she takes payment at the time they make the booking. <span style="text-decoration: underline;">So that&#8217;s money in her bank account TODAY.</span></p>
<p>It&#8217;s been 2 days since the promotion went out. She&#8217;s now sold 7 packages totalling $889&#8230; and we just sent out another email.</p>
<p><strong>That&#8217;s a big strategy right there!</strong> You don&#8217;t just send a 1 email promotion. Each promotion has a strategy in place to get maximum results.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what Yvonne has now discovered!</p>
<ol>
<li>You can create a promotion that MAKES money and you keep 100% of the sale (no more coupon deals)</li>
<li>The importance of keeping her client database updated</li>
<li>She can take ACTION to GET her telephone to ring. No longer does she have to HOPE for the telephone to ring for new business.</li>
<li>A very LOW COST way to generate business.</li>
<li>That you can do this strategy regularly. It&#8217;s not a once off thing.</li>
</ol>
<p>You may think the amount Yvonne sold is small. Yes it is&#8230; but let&#8217;s keep it in perspective. <strong>She has now worked out that she can make 50% of her weekly turnover with a well planned promotion.</strong></p>
<p>And this is in addition to how Yvonne usually gets all her business. Usually it&#8217;s re-bookings, clients telephoning to make an appointment, maybe even a referral from a satisfied client.</p>

</p><p>Yesterday my girlfriend wanted to buy a Weber BBQ. These things are amazing. They&#8217;re a small, very efficient BBQ that cooks your meat, fish, whatever&#8230; to perfection.</p>
<p>Anyway, it was Sunday afternoon, off we went to the BBQ shop. The shop owner started to tell us about each of the different models but my girlfriend&#8230; her name is Gerri&#8230; had already done all the research using her Ipad on the internet and knew exactly what she wanted.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll have that one&#8221;, she said. &#8220;Great choice&#8221; said the shop owner&#8230; &#8220;unfortunately the last one was sold just 10 minutes ago. We&#8217;ll have more stock during the week.&#8221;</p>
<p>This wasn&#8217;t going as expected. When Gerri gets it in her mind to buy something she fully intends to walk out with it under her arm. Tonights BBQ was already defrosting on the sink back home. Our thoughts of enjoying a pleasant evening with great food cooked on the BBQ was fast disappearing.</p>
<p>Not to worry I thought. Let&#8217;s go to another shop. We jumped back into the car, Gerri turned on her Ipad ready to check out the internet for other shops in the area.</p>
<p>Easily found&#8230; a quick telephone call to check if the model she wanted was in stock&#8230; Yes, it was.</p>
<p>A few hours later we&#8217;re enjoying the BBQ dinner.</p>
<p><strong>So what&#8217;s this got to do with you?</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s a great example of how people are using the internet. People use the internet to research products and services, to FIND relevant information.</p>

</p><p>I&#8217;ve just completed another Salon Success Website for one of my clients and I was just doing a regular review of the salon online system that has been setup.</p>
<p>I wanted to check where online visitors were coming from and what they were searching for to find her business.</p>
<p>So I went and checked the <strong>Google Places</strong> data for her business. It tells me the amount of times the business was &#8220;shown&#8221; in Google search results and the amount of times visitors clicked on their business listing.</p>
<p>Google Places is a fantastic tool for salons and when setup correctly it can be a very effective way to get NEW clients into your business.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s really cool with this tool. When combined with your salon website, you can quickly get listed BEFORE your direct competition (those in your LOCAL area) and ATTRACT MORE clients into your Salon.</p>
<p>PLUS, you can get some very valuable information on what prospective clients in your area are looking for!</p>
<p><strong>Let me show you.</strong></p>
<p>Below is a screenshot of the TRAFFIC data for my clients business.<br />

<p>The <span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>blue</strong></span> line is the amount of times her business was shown in search results that prospective clients searched in Google for.</p>
<p>The <strong><span style="color: #008000;">green</span></strong> line is the amount of times these prospective clients &#8220;clicked&#8221; on her business listing. That is, they actually wanted MORE information about her Salon.</p>
<p><strong>That&#8217;s a genuine &#8220;LEAD&#8221; for her business.</strong> It&#8217;s a prospective NEW client wanting to know details of her Salon.</p>
<p>The data you see covers a period of 1 month up to today. If I just look at the week leading up to Christmas, I can see that <strong>16 people clicked through</strong> for more details on her business.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s GOOD news. 16 prospective NEW clients!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what else I can see. From the 24th December up to today, there has been no traffic at all. Even allowing for some delay in updates of the data, you can see that traffic drops off considerably from Christmas to New Year. I&#8217;m expecting that people are on holidays and not doing much online searching for this type of business.</p>
<p><strong>Now here&#8217;s another COOL feature of Google Places.</strong></p>
<p>Down the bottom of the data is<em> &#8220;Top Search Queries&#8221;</em>. You can see that the number 1 query is the term &#8220;day spa&#8221;. Results 2 and 3 is the salon business name.</p>
<p><strong>But look at #4</strong>. The term is &#8220;wedding makeup&#8221;.</p>
<p>People are searching for that SPECIFIC service and finding my clients business. I can now go and create, and optimize for search, a specific page for &#8220;wedding makeup&#8221; on her website. Plus I will ensure that the Google Places listing contains more information for that service to ATTRACT MORE clients.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a FACT, direct from Google;</p>

</p><p>Today I want to tell you about Deanne&#8230; a beauty salon owner who wanted to get her salon business online. I met her 10 days ago and at that time she had absolutely NO internet presence. You wouldn&#8217;t have been able to find her business anywhere online.</p>
<p>But first, I want to explain to you why you should have a business website for your Salon or Spa.</p>
<p>If you own a business today your customers EXPECT you to have a web site and even be contactable by email.</p>
<p>To enjoy all the benefits the internet has to offer, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">your salon website must be able to be FOUND and ATTRACT.</span></p>
<p>But here&#8217;s where most get it wrong. They don&#8217;t design it to FIT the way the internet media is being used by the billions of people who access it each day. People use the internet to research products and services, <strong>to FIND relevant information.</strong></p>
<p>Many Salons &amp; Spa businesses have websites. But one of the biggest problems I find is that they&#8217;re not designed for their customers. Usually they&#8217;re designed by the owner, for the owner&#8230; to satisfy their creative ego!</p>
<p><strong>They don&#8217;t ATTRACT!</strong></p>
<p>Usually the websites full of rubbish&#8230; stuff the business owner THINKS visitors to the website want to know. And a big part of it is designed to show &#8220;look how great I am, look at me, i&#8217;m fantastic&#8221;</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s an example&#8230; (salon name has been removed). I just went and checked out one hair salon&#8217;s website where the main element presented to the website visitor was their business vision&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Exclusive, personalized one on one service. Offering the most professional personalized and fashion forward advice in (removed) At (removed) you’ll arrive feeling at home and part of a family and be guided by a team that’s highly educated to ensure you leave breathless.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>What&#8217;s that supposed to mean?</strong> And is it designed to get the website visitor so &#8220;enthralled&#8221; that they then pick up the telephone, dial the number and announce &#8220;just this morning I woke up wanting to find a hair salon that had this Vision&#8230; please book me in!&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>I don&#8217;t think so!</strong></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s some of what website visitors really want to know;</p>
<ul>
<li>where are you</li>
<li>Are you open</li>
<li>What&#8217;s in it for me</li>
<li>Can I connect with you (phone, facebook)</li>
<li>Are people raving about you</li>
</ul>
<p>Couple of big things there&#8230; <strong>where are you, whats in it for me!</strong></p>
<p>I doubt that prospective clients will travel a great distance to try you out on their first visit&#8230; you must be convenient to where they are right now. <strong>Are you being FOUND in the right location?</strong></p>
<p>Are you offering anything that gets the visitor&#8217;s attention! New clients would be attracted to you for many reasons&#8230; they may need a new look, want a hair repair job, have a formal event coming up and want to look great, need a colour etc. <strong>Are you ATTRACTING?</strong></p>
<p>Having a website that fits what people are looking for is perhaps the cheapest, easiest way to grow your business. And it must be easy to find you in your particular area.</p>
<p><strong>So right now&#8230; what are YOU doing wrong!</strong></p>
<p>Ok, you might disagree with me for whatever reason. But understand&#8230; I&#8217;m talking from the view of your prospective client who right now is searching the internet looking for your particular service and is willing to pay you for your services.</p>
<p>So I don&#8217;t give two hoots if you disagree with me. You can be <em>&#8220;RIGHT&#8221;</em> if you want. I&#8217;ll continue to work with those who would rather make money based on what I have discovered really works for salons and spas on the internet.</p>
<p>Which brings me back to Deanne&#8230; a beauty salon owner who I met just 10 days ago who wanted to get her salon business online.</p>
<p>And today, just 10 days later&#8230; here&#8217;s what she has.</p>
<p>She now has a website for her business, that is now appearing in search engines, that may very soon be at the TOP, outranking all her competition for her particular geographic area.</p>
<p><strong>She is being FOUND!</strong></p>
<p>PLUS, she has a great big ATTENTION grabber for her website visitors that gives a STRONG reason for them to make contact with her business.</p>
<p><strong>She is ATTRACTING!</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s been kept simple (because business on the internet does not have to be complicated) and ALREADY she is getting results.</p>
<p><strong>All within 10 days!</strong></p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t have to take months and months nor does it have to be expensive.</p>
<p>And here&#8217;s the best bit. If Deanne wants to &#8220;grow&#8221; her website she can do it herself. There&#8217;s no need to spend money with web-designers. She has total control over her adding or changing her website content.</p>
