Yesterday my girlfriend wanted to buy a Weber BBQ. These things are amazing. They’re a small, very efficient BBQ that cooks your meat, fish, whatever… to perfection.

Anyway, it was Sunday afternoon, off we went to the BBQ shop. The shop owner started to tell us about each of the different models but my girlfriend… her name is Gerri… had already done all the research using her Ipad on the internet and knew exactly what she wanted.

“I’ll have that one”, she said. “Great choice” said the shop owner… “unfortunately the last one was sold just 10 minutes ago. We’ll have more stock during the week.”

This wasn’t going as expected. When Gerri gets it in her mind to buy something she fully intends to walk out with it under her arm. Tonights BBQ was already defrosting on the sink back home. Our thoughts of enjoying a pleasant evening with great food cooked on the BBQ was fast disappearing.

Not to worry I thought. Let’s go to another shop. We jumped back into the car, Gerri turned on her Ipad ready to check out the internet for other shops in the area.

Easily found… a quick telephone call to check if the model she wanted was in stock… Yes, it was.

A few hours later we’re enjoying the BBQ dinner.

So what’s this got to do with you?

It’s a great example of how people are using the internet. People use the internet to research products and services, to FIND relevant information.

They expect your business to be online.

Some time ago I told you about Deanne, a Salon Owner who wanted to get her salon business online.

In my Blog Post “One Salon Owners Website Journey” I explained that her business couldn’t be found on the internet. If you searched for her service you wouldn’t have found her anywhere.

Today it’s different!

She now ranks #1 amongst all her competition.

When you search for “beauty salon” in her area, this is what you get

She’s doing EXACTLY what is expected by internet users. Making her business VISIBLE for anyone to find quickly and easily.

Unfortunately, not every Salon owner can say the same thing!

When you get it right, your salon business can appear on the Internet as the BIGGEST, BEST salon in town.

Imagine you’re walking down the main street of your city or town looking for a place to eat.

You’d probably walk into the nicest place… probably where most people are already eating. You’d never walk into an eating house that is empty, or hidden away in a back street.

You’re most likely to walk into the most VISIBLE place that attracts your attention FIRST.

That’s exactly what you can achieve on the internet.

That’s exactly what Deanne has now done with her business.

It’s exactly what my girlfriend Gerri did to buy her Weber BBQ.

Right now, I’ve got 3 spots available for savvy salon owners that want to achieve the same thing.

What would it mean to your business, to be the #1 choice in your area. For Deanne, right now, she’s attracting new clients into her Salon.

Click Here To Take Action Now

It’s a short form for you to complete. Fill it out then I’ll give you a call to discuss what your Salon could achieve. Then you can decide what you want to do about it.

Have a great week.Related Posts:

Today I want to tell you about Deanne… a beauty salon owner who wanted to get her salon business online. I met her 10 days ago and at that time she had absolutely NO internet presence. You wouldn’t have been able to find her business anywhere online.

But first, I want to explain to you why you should have a business website for your Salon or Spa.

If you own a business today your customers EXPECT you to have a web site and even be contactable by email.

To enjoy all the benefits the internet has to offer, your salon website must be able to be FOUND and ATTRACT.

But here’s where most get it wrong. They don’t design it to FIT the way the internet media is being used by the billions of people who access it each day. People use the internet to research products and services, to FIND relevant information.

Many Salons & Spa businesses have websites. But one of the biggest problems I find is that they’re not designed for their customers. Usually they’re designed by the owner, for the owner… to satisfy their creative ego!

They don’t ATTRACT!

Usually the websites full of rubbish… stuff the business owner THINKS visitors to the website want to know. And a big part of it is designed to show “look how great I am, look at me, i’m fantastic”

Here’s an example… (salon name has been removed). I just went and checked out one hair salon’s website where the main element presented to the website visitor was their business vision…

“Exclusive, personalized one on one service. Offering the most professional personalized and fashion forward advice in (removed) At (removed) you’ll arrive feeling at home and part of a family and be guided by a team that’s highly educated to ensure you leave breathless.”

What’s that supposed to mean? And is it designed to get the website visitor so “enthralled” that they then pick up the telephone, dial the number and announce “just this morning I woke up wanting to find a hair salon that had this Vision… please book me in!”

I don’t think so!

Here’s some of what website visitors really want to know;

where are you

Are you open

What’s in it for me

Can I connect with you (phone, facebook)

Are people raving about you

Couple of big things there… where are you, whats in it for me!

I doubt that prospective clients will travel a great distance to try you out on their first visit… you must be convenient to where they are right now. Are you being FOUND in the right location?

Are you offering anything that gets the visitor’s attention! New clients would be attracted to you for many reasons… they may need a new look, want a hair repair job, have a formal event coming up and want to look great, need a colour etc. Are you ATTRACTING?

Having a website that fits what people are looking for is perhaps the cheapest, easiest way to grow your business. And it must be easy to find you in your particular area.

So right now… what are YOU doing wrong!

Ok, you might disagree with me for whatever reason. But understand… I’m talking from the view of your prospective client who right now is searching the internet looking for your particular service and is willing to pay you for your services.

So I don’t give two hoots if you disagree with me. You can be “RIGHT” if you want. I’ll continue to work with those who would rather make money based on what I have discovered really works for salons and spas on the internet.

Which brings me back to Deanne… a beauty salon owner who I met just 10 days ago who wanted to get her salon business online.

And today, just 10 days later… here’s what she has.

She now has a website for her business, that is now appearing in search engines, that may very soon be at the TOP, outranking all her competition for her particular geographic area.

She is being FOUND!

PLUS, she has a great big ATTENTION grabber for her website visitors that gives a STRONG reason for them to make contact with her business.

She is ATTRACTING!

It’s been kept simple (because business on the internet does not have to be complicated) and ALREADY she is getting results.

All within 10 days!

It doesn’t have to take months and months nor does it have to be expensive.

And here’s the best bit. If Deanne wants to “grow” her website she can do it herself. There’s no need to spend money with web-designers. She has total control over her adding or changing her website content.

If you’d like to check out her website then just leave a comment below and I’ll send you the details. You’re not getting this sort of information without a little effort on your part… go and leave a comment below

And if you need a website for your business, or you’re starting to think that maybe your website is not quite hitting the mark, then do something about it and complete your details at the following link;

You go and invest a lot in a salon or spa website.. what’s next? Do you just sit back and hope (maybe pray) that it brings a horde of well-paying clients into your business?

Or do you give some thought on how best to actually make it work for you – how you can profit from the money you spent, just like you would with any other type of advertising media you may choose to invest in.

Your website can be a great marketing tool. But it’s only the beginning part of a complete online marketing system.

There are many parts to it. And if you DON’T take control of each part you may end up with just an expensive piece of internet real estate that no one can ever find!

Let me explain. And to help me do that you first need to understand what consumers are now doing.

More and more consumers are going online to gain an opinion on a particular product, company or service.

The internet has become very “social”. Imagine it to be like a giant coffee shop full of people who meet up and have something to say, maybe even gossip about.

And they “publish” this gossip all over the place. Take, for example, people complaining about a product or a service they have recently experienced – referred to as “negative opinions”.

These negative opinions are broadcast all over the internet. I’ve seen many salon and spa reviews that have been published on the internet that the business owner possibly has no idea about.

Check the Google Review below, written about a particular day spa… (note: this took me about 10 seconds to find when I searched for a day spa in a particular area)
See their recommendation – “Avoid This Place”.

And this comment has been published on the particular business’s Google directory listing… right under their business name… available for all to read.

You’ll like this: I rang this day spa and told them they had this negative review. Guess what… they didn’t know about it… and they didn’t really care.

The owner told me that they have many other clients really happy with their service. That’s great… unfortunately those clients don’t go and publish their opinions for all to see, unlike the negative ones.

Now, I agree with the owner… they shouldn’t be concerned about it as a reflection of their usual level of service.

BUT… they are NOT their potential NEW clients!

How much new business will they miss out on from people who are searching on the internet for their particular service.

I think they’ll be losing a GREAT deal of new business! And that’s just from 1 negative review… what if there were many!

There is a way to fix this… but as the owner was not too concerned about it, nor about my “good samaritan” effort in telling them… I just told him to have a great day and hung up.

But back to my point: having a website is just one tiny piece of the internet puzzle. There are many more parts.

But there’s good news… all of the “internet parts” don’t have to be in perfect synch for YOUR business to prosper on the internet.

You just have to get a few parts working right.

Here’s what I mean.

When I talk to many salon and spa owners about their “internet presence” they tell me they want to showcase all their services, show how great they provide these services, and then create something that reflects the fantastic ambiance of their business.

They want something all “touchy and feely, warm and cuddly”! Something they can impress their family and friends with and say “look how pretty my business is”.

And many of them want to be able to SELL everything on their website. From their services through to all their products.

That’s all great… and then I ask if they’ve got a budget of 20 thousand dollars plus to invest in their idea of their dream website, so that they can impress their family and friends.

Most salon and spa owners then start to get a little twitchy when I mention that figure! Because that’s what you could be spending if you go down the “touch, feely, warm and cuddly” path.

Small business can’t afford that… it’s too risky on low margin services!

It’s right then that I start to educate them in the fine arts of the internet world for small business. And I say to them;

“what would you think of a website that could bring in 10 to 20 NEW clients per month, at a fraction of the cost I mentioned earlier. And this website did this month after month… without ever taking a day off!”

It’s about creating a “low-cost” marketing tool that ATTRACTS new clients and has potentially very high returns that are easily measurable. This is far more efficient for small business than spending $20,000 plus to impress your family and friends.

It’s about now they start to get a little interested… Remember when I said that you only have to get a few parts working right for your business to prosper.

All you have to do is create “a website lead generation system”. And to put it simply, that’s ALL your website needs to do.

Consistently generate NEW leads that become NEW clients! I call it “Function over Form”!

That’s where the MONEY is! And as a small business owner, that’s what you should be focused on.

Yes, your website should look good… but the critical element is that it “functions” right.

But again, there are many parts to this internet jungle and over time you can work on that.

Sometimes, having JUST a website is NOT enough!

Many of my clients will testify to that. Most recoup their investment within 6 to 8 weeks when they combine their website with other internet marketing strategies.

Warning: This article contains some hard hitting news. It’s not “touchy, feely” and I apologize if you feel offended after reading it. If by chance, you do feel offended then I would suggest you get over it quick.

Let’s get on with it.

It’s coming up to the best time of the year for the Salon & Spa business. It’s that time when your clients need to book weeks ahead to beat the Christmas rush.

For many, October through to December is the busiest time of the year. It’s the time when you reap and build up the bank account, ready for the sudden drop in business which follows the peak of December. January and February are tough months in this industry.

But I also want to tell you what else you’re up against this year.

Listen up.

The latest news is that daily deal sites (those dreaded discount coupons) are experiencing rapid growth. For daily deal sites, business is booming. And that means more and more discount deals out there.

Growth over the last 2 years has been massive. Daily Deal site databases have grown at a rapid pace. I’ll just about guarantee that a lot of YOUR clients have signed up to receive notification of these deals.

And the Christmas period is when there are likely to be a flood of coupon deals in the salon and spa industry.

Now you might not be participating in the daily deals. You understand the problems… no profit, lousy clients.

But there are some struggling salon and spa business owners out there that will participate. They’ll bring in a bunch of sales… and it will get them through Christmas, January and February. They may not make much profit or get great clients, but they WILL get the money they may need to continue to carry on their business.

Let’s look at the facts…

people spend MORE at Christmas time.

people are ALWAYS looking for great deals

a salon or spa experience IS a popular Christmas gift

So if people have money to spend, want a great deal and want to buy a Christmas present… guess where they’ll be looking!

At the latest daily deals flooding their email inbox.

And that means they won’t be buying from YOU!

UNLESS… you can BEAT the discount coupon craze!

I’m not telling you to take part in the crazy discount coupons… that’s madness – remember, NO profit, Lousy clients… BUT if you sit back and IGNORE what’s happening in the marketplace then I’d consider you as STUPID as those that do take part.

A bit harsh you think?

Yes it is… call it a “little dose of reality!”

Because IGNORING what’s happening is STUPID. I’ll guarantee that you’ll LOSE sales this Christmas if you just sit back and do the same old, same old!

Unless you have a STRATEGY to do something a little different!

Because right now you have another competitor – the Daily Deal websites! Actually, they’re scarier than the other competing salon or spa down the street from you.

They’re scarier because they’re actively marketing fantastic deals to their database… on a daily basis. Your competing salon or spa up the road would be lucky to actively market once a year!

So what are YOU going to do?

Sit back, relax, put your head in the sand… hoping it will all just go away?

Or do something amazing to fight back at the crazy discount deals that are competing against you!

I’ve spoken about this a few times before… even offered you a FREE report on what one of my clients did to fight back – and she did… TWICE!

Each time she was absolutely thrilled with the sales that came flooding in – it was profitable and she had GREAT clients. In fact she’s experienced record months. And right now she has another campaign ready to to go out this week.

Because she understands what’s happening in the marketplace… and she’s giving it her attention!

And she’s already got this Christmas period worked out.

So WHY haven’t YOU taken action? Did you even bother to get my report?

Here’s what I’m going to do.

I’m offering 5 only spots. I’ll personally show you what to do, work with you AND setup a system to FIGHT back.

Work with me and you’ll likely experience a record Christmas period. While others sit back and watch the daily deal coupons wipe out a good part of their business.

Because that’s what will happen if YOU do nothing! Good luck with that.

If you want to register as one of the 5 business owners that I’ll work with, then click on the following link

Click Here To Register Your Interest

Very important: Please don’t take this the wrong way. I may NOT choose to work with you. I’ll respond to your registration but if you’re going to procrastinate and waste my time then I won’t work with you.

It’s for serious business owners only. I’ll work with you to implement what needs to be done and I will guarantee that you have success. You’ll wonder WHY you never did this before and you’ll be incredibly annoyed about the sales you’ve missed out on in the past.

One more thing… it’s going to cost you a few hundred dollars which will be fraction of what you could make. If that scares you more than the competition the daily deal websites will be giving you this Christmas, then don’t bother to register.

Click Here To Register Your Interest

And to wrap up… you may AGREE or DISAGREE with what I’ve said. I’d love to hear your comments and I invite you to leave them below.Related Posts:

Jumped onto Facebook recently to check out what’s happening and I saw this post that made me think a little…

“10% of the year is over, what have you accomplished”

Did you start 2011 with the goal of improving your business? And if you did, how’s that going?

Now we should all be measuring the performance of our business, maybe even checking our own personal performance. And as a Salon or Day Spa Owner, you should be taking some time checking if you’re improving your business or going backwards.

I’m the first to admit that I don’t measure my performance enough. Sure, I might pay it attention every now and then but the fact is the year goes so fast it’s sometimes a bit of a blur.

You work hard, every day seems the same, there is bound to be daily challenges that you have to handle… when do you get the time to actually measure your business performance.

So to help you out, I’d thought I’d give you my quick tips for a Salon or Day Spa business check up.

Are my sales up this month compared to same time last year

Did the number of new clients increase from the previous month

Is my average dollar sale amount increasing compared to the previous month

Is any marketing I’m doing proving profitable

That’s it… there’s quite a few others you could check, but to me those 4 give you a quick snapshot for time starved salon or day spa owners.

Now… if you answered YES to all 4, then congratulations. Whatever you’re doing is working and your salon or day spa business is growing.

If you answered NO to any of them (let’s hope it’s not all 4) then you have an emergency to deal with and the time for ACTION is now.

Now 1, 2 and 3 are pretty easy to determine. And if you are using a computer based system for your Salon or Day Spa then it should be easy to get the results.

But it’s number 4 that a lot of businesses get wrong.

What usually happens is you use an ad like this one (I’ve removed the Salon name so to avoid any problems ) and you spend a fortune on putting it in a newspaper or plastering it on your window, maybe even creating a flyer to distribute around the neighbourhood.

Worst yet, you use it for a yellow pages ad!

And the results are going to be pretty c**p.

But hang on, isn’t that the type of Ad that all Salons might use. It must work because everyone is using it?

Let me SAVE you some time… that Ad is not going to work for you, and it will not make you any money!

Here’s why… if you use an ad like that the only way you know it’s going to work is if you ask the client how they found you. That relies on you or your staff asking the question. And if you’re busy, chances are that you may not even ask the question.

So there’s no way to actually measure if the ad worked or not.

My advice… if you can’t accurately measure the performance of any Ad or promotion – instantly – then STOP spending anymore money using that particular Ad!

So what’s the SOLUTION.

As you know I focus on promoting your Salon or Day Spa using the Internet.

And it’s no different to what I refer to as the OFFLINE media eg. newspaper ads, yellow pages, flyers etc.

That is… you must accurately be able to measure the performance of your ONLINE media instantly. And that includes your website, online ads etc.

Many Salon and Day Spa owners use these media to promote their businesses.

And MOST get it wrong online as they do offline.

Here’s what two of my recent clients have achieved after I SAVED their poor performing websites with my Salon Success Website makeover.

Client #1: 14 new prospects this past week

Client #2: 7 new prospects this past week

Now these prospects have gone to their website and provided their name, address and email details and are now receiving the automated follow up system that has been created to “convince” these prospects to come into the Salon and take advantage of their FREE gift.

It’s SET and FORGET follow up PLUS it continues to attract new business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

And it requires no effort from anybody to follow up with the prospective client… it’s on auto-pilot.!

The SUCCESS rate… anywhere from 60 to 80% of these prospects make a booking for a service within the vicinity of $79 to $127.

How’s your website going? Is it creating new business for you? Are you taking advantage of everything the “online” world has to offer your Salon or Day Spa business?

Yes it can be overwhelming!

But ignoring it can be disastrous to your business.

Fact: 4 out of 5 Australians research products online.

Will they find your Salon or Spa business?

Love it or hate it, you need to stay on top of the expanding digital economy if you want a successful business.

I recently read an article that was discussing the role the internet in our daily lives. You can read it here…

Google: the opportunities of the NBN

It had some really interesting statistics (though they are relevant to Australia, it’s likely to be the same in similar economies):

Of the nearly 2 million small businesses who make up a staggering 96% of all businesses, 39% do not have a website.

4 out of 5 Australians research products online

45% of Australian internet users publish their opinions about products, services and brands and a staggering 86% read other consumers opinions online.

As more people get online, users needs, behaviours and expectations evolve. This represents a huge missed opportunity for finding new customers for businesses who don’t participate in this expanding digital economy.

Salon and Spa businesses used to rely on the Yellow Pages and word of mouth to find new customers and to establish their reputation. Yet today’s word of mouth is transmitted as often through Facebook or Twitter, as it is over a cup of tea. Today’s users find businesses as often on Google Maps from a mobile telephone as from a street directory.

As a Salon or Spa owner, you need to pay attention to what your prospects and clients are doing. To be a successful business you need to participate in this changing digital age.

It can be confusing, it can be frustrating.

Let me ask you. If you paid a few thousand dollars for a service would you accept that it didn’t work?

I know I wouldn’t… and I bet you wouldn’t either, not intentionally anyway.

Especially when you spend the money with the purpose of it producing results… such as bringing in new clients and making you money.

But this is exactly what Salon owners are doing when they pay to create the ordinary, looks like everybody else’s, salon website.

They’re paying for crappy results!

And I see this every day.

Here’s my most recent example. A salon owner contacted me the other day… she asked me not to mention her name due to the embarrassment of what she discovered during our conversation. Let’s just say she operates a beauty salon in New South Wales.

Anyway… she asked me to look over her website, point out some things that she could be doing better… because guess what, she had not gained $1 from this website that had been created for her, 6 months before.

First up, I checked if her website appeared in the search engines – NO it didn’t.

Second, I asked her whether she had gained any clients from her website – NO it hadn’t.

It was right there I stopped, I didn’t have to go any further… and I asked her… “How much did this website cost?”. The answer… $4,000.

I then asked if she was happy about that. Her response… She wasn’t sure!

I was expecting her to be really annoyed, maybe respond by saying “NO, I’m not happy with the results!” And maybe something along the lines of “I wasted my money”, or “I’m going to grab the designer around the neck, shake ‘em up a little, beat ‘em around the ears and get my money back”

But no… her response… “I’m not sure”.

Her response got me thinking. Have Salon Owners been conditioned to think that a website is a “have to have” sort of thing that’s going to cost a few dollars for the purpose of just hanging around in the background, a thing that’s not meant to do all that much.

I’m thinking… are Salon owners completely nuts… you spend that amount of money should you not expect a return on your investment… quickly? How come they don’t understand what a salon website should be doing for them…

attracting new prospects

convert these prospects into paying clients

get these clients coming back to your salon more often

and do it all on “auto-pilot” without you having to spend much time on it

Not much to it really… but to achieve all that your salon website has to be easily found in a search engine… and be the first choice for a visitor who is searching for the service your salon provides.

And when they visit your website, are the visitors “doing” what you want them to do.

Anyway, back to the Salon Owner who contacted me.

There were quite a few things that had been done completely wrong. And it was clear why she had not received any return on her $4000 investment.

She did tell me that she had contacted the person who created the website. This person stated to her that it would take at least 6 months before her website would appear in the search engines.

That statement was a complete load of bollocks!

When done right, a salon website can have a good ranking and presence in the search engines within 1 to 4 weeks.

And that search engine presence will result in new visitors to your website.

Now, to a lot of salon owners out there, that may sound like it’s too hard for you to think about… you’re a busy business owner that leaves website stuff to a website designer.

But that can prove to be a costly mistake! Spend $4,000 and not get $1 back… after 6 months… just like the embarrassed Salon Owner I’ve been talking about.

Here’s what’s possible. Spend some money now on a salon website that works, and recoup 2 to 3 times the investment within 12 months.

It’s possible.

Which would you rather be? The embarrassed salon owner who pays $4,000 for no results, or the smarter salon owner who spends money to make much, much more.

I know which one I’d rather be.

Click on the link below if you’d rather be the smarter salon owner. Make sure you do it before your competition does.

This is an interesting question. Come to think of it, it’s actually 2 questions…

Can a Salon profit from using the Internet?

Do you need a Salon website to profit from the Internet?

The fact is, there are many Salons out there that haven’t got a website. And I’m sure they’ve spent some time thinking about whether they really need one.

Let’s first look at the benefits of having a Salon website…

it’s a communication tool that delivers the benefits of your salon services.

your website appears in the search engines for a variety of keywords eg. “beauty salon”, “hair stylist”

once you get in the search engines you attract visitor traffic to your website as they search using the keywords

and once you get them to your website you can build a prospect list by capturing their name and email address

you can then market to these prospects to convince them to come into your Salon

And when they come into your Salon, you profit

But what about if you don’t have a Salon website? What can you do on the internet to be able to profit. Here’s my top 3 recommendations…

1. You could setup a Google business listing. List your business within your geographic area which results in your listing appearing in the Google search results. This is FREE to do.

This may result in prospects who search on the internet for your services, telephoning your Salon and maybe making an appointment.

2. You could create a Salon Facebook Fan page . If you spend some time to do this yourself then you could do it at no cost.

You then attract clients and prospects to your Facebook Page, provide regular updates and offers which may get them telephoning your Salon to make an appointment.

3. You could email your list of clients. You could do this using your Salon Sofwtare system or set it up within your own personal email software. You could email special offers which could then get your clients telephoning your Salon. Email Marketing for Salons can prove to
be a very profitable activity.

This is just a few of the activities you could do without the need for a Salon website.

So what’s the best option?

To me, it’s combining all the options above, based around a great functioning website that acts as an effective lead generator for new and existing clients.

But here’s the catch. Your Salon website will only be effective if it functions as a communication and marketing tool… a tool that delivers the benefits of your Salon services to your prospects and clients and automatically follows up prospects to get them into your Salon.

There are many parts to an effective salon website. And if you haven’t downloaded my FREE guide “The Ultimate Salon Website Guide – 5 Strategies To Get MORE Traffic, MORE Clients and MORE Sales From Your Salon Website”, then you should go and do it now.

Many Salon Owners balk at the idea of a website because of the cost. Personally, I think that idea is based on bad judgement, bad advice and is just a load of rubbish.

Let me explain…

Let’s say you do have an effective website that consistently gets you 5 new clients per month. Let’s then say that each of those clients spend $50 each visit (i’ve kept that low for this example), and attend your salon 8 times per year.

That’s 5 x 50 x 8 = $2,000 over the next 12 months.

Then the next month comes and the same thing happens. You gain another $2,000 over the following 12 months.

So for the next 12 months you gain 60 new clients that will spend $24,000 in your Salon in a 12 month period.

All from an effective website. That you pay for once that continues to put money in your bank account.

How much would you pay for that?

I certainly wouldn’t be too concerned over a few thousand dollars. BUT, and this is a big BUT… be sure that the website system you purchase has been proven to work. My Salon Success Website System has proven to be a profitable lead generation system for each Salon Owner that has invested in it.

Many Salon Owners make their website creation decision based on price. This is a costly mistake… because to fix it will cost you again!Related Posts:

Have you heard the saying “Timing is everything”. And in your Salon business, the difference between massive success and failure can be put down to timing.

Here’s what I mean… how successful do you think you’d be promoting a summer hair or beauty package in Autumn, just before a cold and stormy winter.

You’d probably not have much success!

And it’s no different when you use the internet to market your services… Timing is everything.

Now here’s my definition of “Marketing”. It’s educating your customers about the benefits your product gives them and then convincing them to buy it from only you.

So how do you educate? Well… you’ve got to first start communicating with them. Through any media that you can possibly use and afford.

And that’s where Facebook for Salons comes in. Never has the timing been so perfect to start communicating with your clients using this most powerful tool.

And Facebook is now far too big to ignore. You might think it’s for kids, but let me give you a few facts;

Facebook has just reached 350 million active users

50% of these active users log on to Facebook in any given day

The fastest growing demographic of new Facebook users are those 35 years old and older… no longer is it something just the kids do

The average user has 130 friends on the site. So, your clients and prospects have a wide circle of influence.

More than 8 billion minutes are spent on Facebook each day (worldwide)

There are more than 45 million status updates each day

More than 10 million users become fans of Pages each day

And I can just about guarantee that some of these Facebook users are already YOUR clients. And, many more are your potential prospects.

It has become the fastest growing social media network the world has ever known. And don’t think your Salon clients aren’t using Facebook on a regular basis.

Consider this. Over the past week a number of Salons took the opportunity to set up a Salon Facebook Page. That’s a page specifically for business and it gives you a way to communicate instantly with your Fan (client) base.

One Salon (a hair salon) now has over 65 Fans. Another Beauty Salon has over 25 Fans, another has over 40 Fans. And their Fan base is growing rapidly using some of the strategies that have been suggested to them.

They now have a fast and effective way to share information about their Salon products, services and the latest news with their Fan base. They’re building a relationship with their clients… a relationship that could result in more Salon profits.

The timing is right and it’s an effective way to communcate with your clients.

If you want to learn more about using Facebook for your Salon then click on this link – Facebook For Salons.

Yesterdays post “A Salon Website That Works” created a fair amount of questions from Salon Owners wanting to know exactly what they have to do to improve traffic to their own salon websites.

One of the best strategies is to improve your rankings in the search engines. Get on the first page of Google, you’ll get more traffic! It’s a simple strategy, but one that Salon Owners don’t quite understand… and many get it horribly wrong!

So here’s a short video that shows you exactly how it was done for Nicole Larsen of Beauty Necessities Laser and Beauty Salon in Doncaster, Victoria. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, Nicole took up the offer for a Salon Success Website solution and the results so far have been outstanding.

Just press the PLAY button to discover a simple strategy to improve your search engine rankings and get MORE traffic to your Salon website.
