</p><p>I&#8217;ve said it before and will continue to do so. If you&#8217;re in business, any kind of business, particularly in the salon and spa business, you simply cannot compete these days without a website.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not going to lay out the reasons why except to say that if you haven&#8217;t yet realized that your clients, and those NEW clients you want to get, SPEND a lot of time ONLINE, have discovered that all types of products and services are at their fingertips.</p>
<p>So if you&#8217;ve NOT got a website then you&#8217;d WANT to sort that out real quick.</p>
<p><strong>BUT&#8230; will any old website DO! And is it going to cost you a fortune to create and maintain?</strong></p>
<p>Well&#8230; the answer to both questions is NO! <span style="text-decoration: underline;">And in this article I&#8217;m going to prove it to you!</span></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve seen plenty of salon and spa websites&#8230; more than I&#8217;d want to think about. I&#8217;ve seen the &#8220;expensive&#8221; glossy looking websites and I&#8217;ve seen many that are just a complete waste of time.</p>
<p><strong>So&#8230; just any old website WON&#8217;T do!</strong></p>
<p>Your salon or spa website doesn&#8217;t have to be a work of creative genius, costing &#8220;tens of thousands&#8221; of dollars but it does have to WORK.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m hoping you respond that you do it often!</p>
<p>Because the alternative can send you BROKE&#8230; real quick.</p>
<p>When it comes to results&#8230; and I&#8217;m talking results that make your business grow and you wealthier&#8230; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">I always consider what the successful people are doing.</span></p>
<p>Because if anything, I&#8217;d rather follow what the successful people are doing rather than those that are full of advice but actually have had none or very limited success.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve come to the conclusion, and it&#8217;s taken quite a few years to do that, that I&#8217;d rather &#8220;copy&#8221; great results than have to try and &#8220;think up&#8221; something new that may or may not, be successful.</p>
<p>For quite a large part of my business life, I thought I could have great success thinking up new and fresh ideas&#8230; and do it all myself.</p>
<p>Thankfully I&#8217;ve woken up to the fact that, that sort of idea is just STUPID, usually ending up with lousy results, heaps of worry and many bouts of prolonged procrastination.</p>
<p><strong>So right now I&#8217;m focusing on the FAST way to success.</strong> I&#8217;ve worked out it&#8217;s easier and great results are just about guaranteed! Slow hasn&#8217;t worked out that well for me.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve learnt&#8230; the secret to my tiny piece of success!</p>
<p><strong>Work out what others do successfully&#8230; then COPY it!</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s pretty simple&#8230; I wish I had of worked it out years ago. Sometimes you can copy exactly&#8230; other times you have to think a little and adapt it to your desired outcome.</p>
<p>But mostly you just COPY!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve discovered;</p>
<p><strong>When I FOCUS on copying successful strategies, ideas, processes&#8230; I get results FAST&#8230; with very little worry and heaps less PROCRASTINATION!</strong></p>
<p>Beats the life out of carrying out my business as a deep, orginal thinker!</p>
<p>Anyway&#8230; you might be wondering what my point is.</p>
<p>But before I get to that I just wanted to share a little about what&#8217;s been happening in my business life.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m busy copying successful people. I&#8217;m asking what they do and then applying it to me.</p>
<p>Like this;</p>
<ul>
<li>There are certain things you are very good at&#8230; FOCUS on that!</li>
<li>You cannot do everything yourself&#8230; DELEGATE someone else to do it</li>
<li>If you&#8217;re going to listen to anybody make sure they&#8217;ve had success doing it or they have PROOF that it works&#8230; TESTIMONIALS</li>
<li>If paying money FAST TRACKS results, then PAY it</li>
</ul>
<p>One of my most LIMITING beliefs relevant to my business success was thinking too much. It resulted in procrastination and LOST opportunities.</p>
<p>I thought I could learn how to do it myself. Fact was, I was too busy to learn how to do it and more often than not, I never did.</p>
<p><strong>Now I follow the Nike mantra &#8211; &#8220;Just Do It&#8221;.</strong></p>
<p>Now&#8230; to my point!</p>

</p><p>Let me ask you. <em>If you paid a few thousand dollars for a service would you accept that it didn&#8217;t work?</em></p>
<p>I know I wouldn&#8217;t&#8230; and I bet you wouldn&#8217;t either, not intentionally anyway.</p>
<p>Especially when you spend the money with the purpose of it <strong>producing results&#8230; such as bringing in new clients and making you money.</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">But this is exactly what Salon owners are doing</span> when they pay to create the ordinary, looks like everybody else&#8217;s, salon website.</p>
<p><strong>They&#8217;re paying for crappy results!</strong></p>
<p>And I see this every day.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s my most recent example. A salon owner contacted me the other day&#8230; she asked me not to mention her name due to the embarrassment of what she discovered during our conversation. Let&#8217;s just say she operates a beauty salon in New South Wales.</p>
<p>Anyway&#8230; she asked me to look over her website, point out some things that she could be doing better&#8230; because guess what, she had not gained $1 from this website that had been created for her, 6 months before.</p>
<p>First up, I checked if her website appeared in the search engines &#8211; <strong>NO it didn&#8217;t.</strong></p>
<p>Second, I asked her whether she had gained any clients from her website &#8211; <strong>NO it hadn&#8217;t.</strong></p>
<p>It was right there I stopped, I didn&#8217;t have to go any further&#8230; and I asked her&#8230;<em> &#8220;How much did this website cost?&#8221;</em>. The answer&#8230; $4,000.</p>
<p>I then asked if she was happy about that. Her response&#8230; She wasn&#8217;t sure!</p>
<p>I was expecting her to be really annoyed, maybe respond by saying<em> &#8220;NO, I&#8217;m not happy with the results!&#8221;</em> And maybe something along the lines of <em>&#8220;I wasted my money&#8221;</em>, or <em>&#8220;I&#8217;m going to grab the designer around the neck, shake &#8216;em up a little, beat &#8216;em around the ears and get my money back&#8221;</em></p>
<p>But no&#8230; her response&#8230; &#8220;I&#8217;m not sure&#8221;.</p>
<p>Her response got me thinking. <em>Have Salon Owners been conditioned to think that a website is a &#8220;have to have&#8221; sort of thing that&#8217;s going to cost a few dollars for the purpose of just hanging around in the background, a thing that&#8217;s not meant to do all that much.</em></p>
<p>I&#8217;m thinking&#8230; are Salon owners completely nuts&#8230; <strong>you spend that amount of money should you not expect a return on your investment&#8230; quickly?</strong> How come they don&#8217;t understand what a salon website should be doing for them&#8230;</p>
<ol>
<li>attracting new prospects</li>
<li>convert these prospects into paying clients</li>
<li>get these clients coming back to your salon more often</li>
<li>and do it all on &#8220;auto-pilot&#8221; without you having to spend much time on it</li>
</ol>
<p>Not much to it really&#8230; <strong>but to achieve all that your salon website has to be easily found in a search engine&#8230;</strong> and be the first choice for a visitor who is searching for the service your salon provides.</p>
<p><strong>And when they visit your website, are the visitors &#8220;doing&#8221; what you want them to do.</strong></p>
<p>Anyway, back to the Salon Owner who contacted me.</p>
<p>There were quite a few things that had been done completely wrong. And it was clear why she had not received any return on her $4000 investment.</p>
<p>She did tell me that she had contacted the person who created the website. This person stated to her that it would take at least 6 months before her website would appear in the search engines.</p>
<p><strong>That statement was a complete load of bollocks!</strong></p>
<p>When done right, a salon website can have a good ranking and presence in the search engines <strong>within 1 to 4 weeks.</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">And that search engine presence will result in new visitors to your website.</span></p>
<p>Now, to a lot of salon owners out there, that may sound like it&#8217;s too hard for you to think about&#8230; you&#8217;re a busy business owner that leaves website stuff to a website designer.</p>
<p>But that can prove to be a costly mistake! Spend $4,000 and not get $1 back&#8230; after 6 months&#8230; just like the embarrassed Salon Owner I&#8217;ve been talking about.</p>

<li> Do you need a Salon website to profit from the Internet?</li>

<p>The fact is, there are many Salons out there that haven&#8217;t got a website. And I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;ve spent some time thinking about whether they really need one.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s first look at the <strong>benefits of having a Salon website&#8230;</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>it&#8217;s a communication tool that delivers the benefits of your salon services.</li>
<li>your website appears in the search engines for a variety of keywords eg. &#8220;beauty salon&#8221;, &#8220;hair stylist&#8221;</li>
<li>once you get in the search engines you attract visitor traffic to your website as they search using the keywords</li>
<li>and once you get them to your website you can build a prospect list by capturing their name and email address</li>
<li>you can then market to these prospects to convince them to come into your Salon</li>
<li>And when they come into your Salon, you profit</li>
</ul>
<p>But what about if you don&#8217;t have a Salon website? What can you do on the internet to be able to profit. Here&#8217;s my top 3 recommendations&#8230;</p>
<p>1. You could setup a Google business listing. List your business within your geographic area which results in your listing appearing in the Google search results. This is FREE to do.</p>
<p>This may result in prospects who search on the internet for your services, telephoning your Salon and maybe making an appointment.</p>
<p>2. You could create a <strong><a href="http://www.salonsuccesswebsite.com/facebook/">Salon Facebook Fan page</a> </strong>. If you spend some time to do this yourself then you could do it at no cost.</p>
<p>You then attract clients and prospects to your Facebook Page, provide regular updates and offers which may get them telephoning your Salon to make an appointment.</p>
<p>3. You could email your list of clients. You could do this using your Salon Sofwtare system or set it up within your own personal email software. <p>Then the next month comes and the same thing happens. You gain another $2,000 over the following 12 months.</p>
<p><strong>So for the next 12 months you gain 60 new clients that will spend $24,000 in your Salon in a 12 month period.</strong></p>
<p>All from an effective website. That you pay for once that continues to put money in your bank account.</p>
<p>How much would you pay for that?</p>
<p>I certainly wouldn&#8217;t be too concerned over a few thousand dollars. </p><p>I spent a bit of time this week checking out quite a few salon websites. I see many <strong>salon marketing</strong> strategies all designed to get more traffic to their salon or spa websites.</p>
<p>And it got me thinking about that famous Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise exchange in the movie &#8220;A Few Good Men&#8221; and how it relates to what I was looking at with salon websites.</p>
<p><strong>You Want The Traffic, You Can&#8217;t Handle The Traffic!</strong> Not exactly the line from the movie but here&#8217;s my point.</p>
<p>Most Salon &amp; Spa Owners think they need more traffic to be successful online. And many are <span style="text-decoration: underline;">spending far too much on Pay-Per-Click</span> programs that send them to web pages that have no great strategies to convert those visitors to paying clients.</p>
<p>Very few Salon or Spa websites get FREE traffic from the search engines. And the problem that creates is they have to pay for the traffic instead! And the problem of having no &#8220;Conversion&#8221; strategy is that many are wasting their money.</p>
<p><strong>So what to do about it?</strong></p>

</p><p>I was doing some research this week on how to <strong>get more traffic to your Salon Website</strong>. One of the biggest mistakes I&#8217;ve found that Salon Owners make is that they go and create their website and then just hope that people find it.</p>
<p>You can easily compare it to your Salon or Day Spa shop front. What do you do, day in and day out, to get people to come into your salon or spa?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s likely that you do some advertising, newspaper or yellow pages, maybe even flyers. You would get some &#8220;walk-in&#8221; traffic, you would get some repeat clients who have re-booked, you might even do some SMS messages, even direct mailouts to your client list.</p>
<p><strong>Now let&#8217;s take this ONLINE and list things we might do to get website &#8220;traffic&#8221; or visitors to your website.</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Advertising &#8211; we might do some <strong>PPC (pay-per-click)</strong> and run some ads on ad networks like Google Adwords.</li>
<li>&#8220;Walk-in&#8221; traffic &#8211; that would be people who found you in the search engines. This is FREE traffic (no cost) that results from <strong>good search engine rankings </strong>based on keywords eg. &#8220;beauty salon Armadale&#8221;</li>
<li> Direct mailouts &#8211; that&#8217;s <strong>email marketing</strong> direct to your email list (check out this great resource for <strong><a href="http://www.salonemailprofits.com/" target="_blank">profitable Salon Email Marketing</a></strong>)</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>So ONLINE Salon Marketing is pretty much the same as OFFLINE Salon Marketing.</strong></p>
<p>So why is that too many Salon &amp; Spa Owners spend very little time and effort marketing their Salon or Spa website?</p>
<p>I know the answer to that! It&#8217;s because many Salon Owners do not<em> understand how to market their Salon or Spa</em>. They just don&#8217;t know where to start!</p>
<p>That&#8217;s why I called this article<strong> &#8220;Increase Salon Website Traffic &#8211; Part 1&#8243;</strong>. Because there are many parts, different strategies, to getting more traffic to your website.</p>
<p>And let me tell you <strong>one of the greatest benefits of salon marketing online</strong>. It&#8217;s a whole lot cheaper and the results are a whole lot quicker when you do it ONLINE&#8230; the right way!</p>
<p>So right now, I&#8217;m going to talk a little about PPC (pay-per-click) strategies&#8230; in particular <strong>Google Adwords</strong>.</p>
<p>If I said to you, that you could <strong>DOUBLE the TRAFFIC to your salon website in 30 minutes or less</strong>&#8230; would YOU believe me!</p>
<p>Right at this moment&#8230; I bet you don&#8217;t!</p>
<p>Remember that I told you I had been doing some research on how to get more traffic to your Salon website. The fact is, <em>I discovered this great resource</em> that explained to me how to use Google Adwords.</p>
<p>Put simply, Google Adwords is a system that allows you to create a Salon Ad, have that ad appear in front of people who are specifically searching for your services, and you pay for the Ad when somebody clicks on it and comes to your website. The amount you pay for the &#8220;click thru&#8221; can vary from as little as a few cents to a dollar or two.</p>
<p><strong>A word of caution though&#8230;</strong> make sure your salon website is ready for these people to visit, in that when they come to your website page they discover a reason to contact you. If your website is not ready then your visitor will just click somewhere else and you would have paid money for nothing.</p>
